Better Together

Chattanooga FC 2022 Uniform Designs

As the Chattanooga Football Club entered its 13th season (and third with a professional men’s team), the club announced that it would be relaunching the women’s team which had been discontinued in 2018. Widgets & Stone created designs to reflect the campaign theme of “Better Together.”

The club, in deep collaboration with the design team, landed on a set of designs that expresses both the unity and individuality of the two teams. Each design highlights the center of the jersey, whether with a dynamic split of two organic patterns or with the point of several chevron arrows. Each design is unique and connotes a sense movement, creativity and teamwork.

Both teams wear the same colors: navy and sky for the field players, green or purple for the keepers. One of the only two differences in the designs is in the navy kits: chevrons for the women, the split pattern for the men. The other key difference is the color scheme of the logo: the women use sky as the primary color, while the men flip and use navy instead.

The results are winners with the club and fans alike. Our hopes are that they will propel the teams to be winners on the field as well!

No Matter What

CFC 2020 Jerseys

After a decade as a very successful amateur soccer team, in 2019 Chattanooga Football Club made history by becoming the first soccer team in the US to offer fans true ownership in the club. In 2020, the club made its debut as a professional soccer team in the newly formed National Independent Soccer Association (NISA).

Chattanooga FC partnered with soccer apparel legend Hummel for the first time, and Widgets & Stone helped to design kits for the twelfth season. This time the designers drew inspiration from Hummel’s iconic “chevron” symbol, using it both as a pattern and a highlight feature.

A Decade of Design

Chattanooga FC’s Tenth Year

Widgets & Stone designs the uniforms for the Chattanooga Football Club as it celebrates its tenth anniversary.

Taking cues from what had come before (2009-2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018), the team created designs in the classic navy and sky while adding the safety orange for the goalie kit. Drawing inspiration from partners/sponsors VW and vfl Wolfsburg, the designers created subtle textural patterns forming an X – the Roman numeral for 10 – to honor the decade long history of the club.

Silicone badges add depth and quality to uniforms, bringing a degree of professionalism as the club enters the ranks of professional soccer this season.

Ten Seasons

Chattanooga FC Uniform Design

Widgets & Stone has designed the Chattanooga Football Club’s kits for the tenth time in the club’s history.

Taking cues from what had come before (2009-2015, 2016, 2017), the design team used navy and white uniforms from the founding season, with touches of sky blue for accents. Drawing inspiration from partners/sponsors VW and vfl Wolfsburg, the designers created patterns out of dynamic linear elements to create the sense of movement and transition.

Blue is Back

Chattanooga FC 2017 Kit Designs

For every single one of Chattanooga FC’s nine seasons, Widgets & Stone has designed the uniforms. Drawing on the traditions of more established clubs around the globe, Chattanooga FC Brand Director Paul Rustand established a pattern: cleaner and more conservative designs in navy and white for odd years, more unusual and experimental in sky and gold in even years.

2017 sees the club return to the founding color palette of an all-navy home kit and an all-white away kit. The collar design from 2015′s National Finalist team returns, but in the same color as the jersey. Strips of the sky and gold highlight colors run down each side and meet in the middle below the collar. The bright green goalkeeper kit is inspired by Chattanooga FC’s new partnership with vfl Wolfsburg – their home jersey was electric green this season.

Do You Hear the People Sing?

Do You Hear the People Sing?

#HeartEchoesDrums

Campaign design for the 2016 season of the Chattanooga Football Club. Widgets & Stone’s design team drew on inspiration from the lyrics of “Do You Hear the People Sing” to capture the wild enthusiasm of the city that embraced the soccer team at the end of 2015: over 18,000 fans attended the NPSL National Championship game in August of 2015.

A simple black and white photo treatment, activated by dynamic diagonals and wonderful photography helps to tell the story of the joy of the game — both for the team and for the fans.

Outstanding photography contributed by Ray Soldano, Pat & Tom Corey and Jim Meyers.

For Club, For Country

Chattanooga FC 2014 Campaign

As Chattanooga Football Club enters its sixth season in the men’s semi-pro National Premier Soccer League, it coincides with the summer of the World Cup – and the launch of the first season of the women’s team in the Women’s Premier Soccer League.

The campaign style utilizes illustrations (by Brian Woodlief based on photography by Steven Llorca) as there was no existing photography for the newly formed women’s team. The theme of “For Club, For Country” ties into the excitement of the biggest tournament of the world’s game — the World Cup in Brazil this June and July.

Creative Direction: Paul Rustand; Art Direction: Bradley Dicharry; Design: Ben Dicks, Travis Hitchcock; Illustration: Brian Woodlief; Men’s illustrations drawn from CFC photographer Steven Llorca.
